PIGGING

Pigging is the first activity to start the  precommissioning works in the  pipelines.It means to run a pig in the pipeline to remove the debris (such as welding rods,tools,etc..) . Simply we can say clean the pipeline .

Pigging can be carryout by the following methods .

Onshore Pigging

In onshore normally a pig is propelled by a compressed air and the no of pig run is depend on the quantity of debris ,Practically we run minimum 4 runs in the onshore pipelines. 

Debris and other foreign materials mostly received in onshore pipelines only.

Offshore Pigging

In offshore pig is propelled by water , A pig train(consist of three pigs) is normally run in the offshore pipelines.
